James Gibson, known to his friends as Gibby, embodies resilience and a quiet passion for design. Originating from a small Wisconsin town surrounded by outdoor activities, his life wasn't always smooth sailing. Despite navigating introversion and social anxiety, James excelled in school and embraced his creative side through video games and movies. He played basketball in his youth, but his true calling was in the digital world.
Fueled by this passion, James embarked on his college journey in 2010, juggling multiple jobs while studying Liberal Arts. After three years, he took a step back, working various jobs including a retro video game store and restaurants, before discovering his true calling: Animation. At Madison College, he delved into the world of animation, learning the ropes of the video game industry. However, after two years, a gut feeling nudged him towards Graphic & Web Design. He capitalized on his existing credits, graduating in 2019 and returning to his hometown.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Job struggles led him back to Walmart, followed by a car accident and the challenges of Covid. Yet, James didn't falter. He helped support his family during his nephew's battle with cancer and even faced a health scare himself. Through it all, his design aspirations never dimmed.
Today, James finds stability at Taylor Signs while pursuing freelance opportunities. He cherishes quiet moments with his chihuahua, indulging in his love for television and, of course, design. Every step of his journey, paved with both triumphs and hurdles, has shaped him into the determined and talented designer he is today.
